Did you see THE game? Best ever? Relive the highlights below.
Missed it? Watch video 2 & 3 below... or video 1 for just the goals.
Central Coast Mariners V Sydney FC - Goals - 22dec07
CC Mariners V Sydney FC - 1st Half Highlights - 22dec07
CC Mariners V Sydney FC - 2nd Half Highlights - 22dec07
I think that Brosque was offside when Vukovic was deemed to handle the ball outside the penalty area, so shouldn't have been given a red card. Also I think that both keepers made errors that lead to goals. Had both teams had their first choice keepers on the field, the score would have been lower.
But no complaints from this A-League fan!

Joga Bonito alright!
I'd have to give goal of the match to Mile Jedinak closely followed by the substitute for SFC with his ballerina style crack! (and probably in that order because of my bias)
I'm not to confident on brosque being offside. The replays don't show brosque in the screen when the play is kicked. I think good decision by the ref for the two red cards but in terms the rest of the match, he was losing control towards the end. top

made an error in my last post.
so now rewriting and adding.
Brosque could have been offside.
Santalab's goal was sweet.
But I loved bidle's goal, he turns the defender and then nutmegs the keeper, so well done.
Jedinak got lucky with the deflection, but was still a good goal.
McFlynn's finish was hot too, not much angle. top

yeah grant - i think i agree with you on the two best goals in that order... and i'm not biased!
duke you're dreaming... lucky? come on...
bidle's goal... keeper should have already come out.
kwasnik's handball - it looked like it hit his chest - but may have hit his hand behind trott's back... not sure... but he shouldn't have had to handball... keeper should have come out about 5 seconds b4 that and cleaned up.
here's one thing for trott and vukovic - why don't you put a player on the far post on a corner????! vukovic has let a couple in this year that would have been cleared off the line by a defender if he had one there... likewise trott on one maybe two goals on saturday night.
bring on a blockbuster on NYE!!!! top

Dave...
I refer you to an earlier post of yours, where you said something in the vicinity of "Mariners will beat Sydney in this match"
I'm not rubbing anything in, mind. Simply stating a fact :P
But in all seriousness, great game. Great for the A-league! top

i'm a supporter of the a-league before the mariners.
i'm more than happy for the mariners to lose 5-4 every week if the games are like that!!! though it might become a bit predictable... so maybe we could throw in some nil-all draws!
did you see the game last night??
that ref breeze likes sending off players.
adelaide were 1-nil up and cruising... and they had a player sent off because brosque is a softy. shouldn't have been a send off.
but another cracker from santa!!
and another record crowd.
good times.
i reckon mariners are a good chance of breaking their record again this NYE?

lol yeah, I'd be happy to see Sydney lose all the time, but not by those crummy 1-0 fiascos. Scoring 4 goals, even when you lose, is worthy of respect.
And yes, it's about time Santalab started doing something. Everyone know's he has the ability, but he's one of those players where getting consistent performances out of them is like pulling teeth. Maybe he's coming the goods now? Would be good to see other 'fringe' national players make the comeback, and pump up the A-league, with goals like that one against the mariners.
And yes, as I said before in a fan mail to the Poddy, the Mariners are my second favourite team (this is true), so I really genuinely would like to see them make a little piece of history on NYE. They deserve it.
BTW I'm in Umina tomorrow on mission, and am up till the 5th. I think we have a day off on Tuesday, so maybe a good time to meet up.
Though whatever suits. I may need to cram a little more lesson prep that day. We'll see :P top
