About

"DAVID MIERS is reported to be in the top 10 cage fighters in Gosford. He has some serious dish washing skills and thinks that Elizabeth Bennet is hot. Although he thinks that his wife Rowena is hotter. David works in youth ministry for a great church. Likes to: speak in third person, watch and play soccer, eat food and surf the web. He has never watched Star Wars."

Obsessed with Jesus

Last night we look at the 2nd half of Philippians 1. Andrew spoke about Paul's obsession with Jesus. I've been thinking about obsessions. I don't want to live a balanced life. I want to live a Philippians 1:21 life.

Soccer used to be my obsession. It's not any more. What's your obsession? Do you get more passionate about mac vs pc; holden vs ford; nescafe vs gourmet coffee; league vs union; Labour vs Liberal or about JESUS!

Get passionate about JESUS. Talk about Jesus. It's all about Jesus. He died. He rose. He's coming back. Don't waste your life.
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

    Good post Dave.

I've tried hard to cut back on talking about coffee. I still love it, and get great enjoyment out of it, but I don't want people to hear me talking about it more than Jesus. I made a rule for myself about posting coffee stuff on our blog too often - because we wanted our blog to point to Jesus and not to my hobbies. top

Glad it wasn't a dig at coffee friends (or coffee family!). I thought it might have been after all your jibes yesterday at me about my coffee snobbery!

Having said all that, very good reminder of where our obsession should be. Something I need to hear. top

It should be very natural and appropriate to be obsessed with Jesus...He was obsessed with us! It was His obsession for us that drove Him to leave Heaven and pursue His bride, and die for her to make her holy. His prayer to the Father before He left earth was a cry of passionate and obsessive love..."Father I WANT them to be with me!"

Out of His passionate and obsessive love for us, He endured the most horrible tortore hell could inspire people to inflict upon him. He died a horrible and excruciating death, because of his passionate and obession to have us with Him forever!

How can we not respond with the same kind of obession...no one and nothing else is worthy and qualifies as Jesus does for our obession and passion for ONLY HIM...forever! top
